Applications are taken and evaluated on a first come, first serve basis. There is a minimum of one business day waiting period for application processing. The waiting period may be longer if we are having problems contacting and verifying vet or rental information or if your application is submitted on a holiday or weekend. Once notified of your approval you have 2 business days to pick up the selected animal, if you cannot pick up the animal in that time, it will be given to the next approved applicant in line or placed back in the general adoption pool. We have a limited amount of space and there are always 2-3 animals waiting for an open kennel in the adoption rooms. For this reason we cannot hold animals any longer than the two business days.

All animals are spayed or neutered prior to leaving the shelter for their new home. We do not have a vet on staff and animals are spayed at our local participating vets. This may delay your pet going home one to two business days. We do not typically spay/neuter animals prior to adoption approval.

If you are looking for an animal we suggest you have your application approved in advance. This will speed up the adoption process and place an animal quickly in your home. Applications more than 6 months old will need to be re-evaluated for changes and fall under the category of the new adoption process.
